Chris Rauber covers the business of healthcare as well as the wine business for the San Francisco Business Times. Before moderating a panel on what San Francisco can teach Obamacare, he talked about his love for pepperoni, his wife, and Bobby Kennedy in the Zócalo green room.
What’s your favorite pizza topping?
Pepperoni! Real healthy.
How are you different from who you were 10 years ago?
Older and grayer. Hopefully a little bit more mature, too—in a good sense.
What do covering the wine and healthcare industries have in common?
[Laughs.] Every time anyone hears that I cover both of them, they mention that wine can be healthy.
What do you love to hate?
PR people.
What would you theme song be?
That’s a tough one. I’ll just say, because it popped in my head, the theme song from Rocky, but I’m not sure that’s the best one.
What does it take to embarrass you?
A lot.
Who was your childhood hero?
Bobby Kennedy.
What’s the best decision you’ve ever made?
Getting married to my wife.
What word or phrase do you use most often?
“You’ve got to be kidding”—that’s one of them, anyway.
What do you wake up to?
KCBS News on the radio.
